Our Unique Bespoke Travel Process
The Tide Has Turned dedicates a bit more time and effort than you may expect to prepare your travel arrangements. We undertake a 5-stage process:
1 Consultation
Doesn’t anyone want to see your holiday snaps? We do! When we work with you to design your personalised travel arrangements we sit down with you for an hour or two, over a hot drink and a biscuit. We discuss your travel ideas, your expectations, why you want to go and what you want out of it. You tell us what you have liked or disliked in the past. We explain our approach in detail and how your travel is researched and prepared. Then we lay off the tea and cakes and really get working.
You can stay even longer if you’d like to consult our growing travel library.
2 Travel Proposal & Ethical Audit
Following personalised, in-depth research on your behalf, we prepare a comprehensive, report of inspiring recommendations and options, having matched independent travel components to your personal requirements and the social and ethical impact of your travel. The proposal will set out the time scales and booking conditions associated with your travel arrangements, including a payment schedule.
We charge a fee for this Consultation and Proposal, which varies based on your intended destination. In some cases this fee may be rebated back to you in whole or in part. For more information go to our fees page.
3 Confirmation & Booking
If you accept our recommendations, this is when you submit your deposit or minimum payment to confirm and reserve your travel arrangements.
4 Travel
This is when you have a good time, enjoy yourself and relax. Rest assured that while you are away, you will benefit from our complimentary insurance cover – one of the best policies in the travel business.
5 Rebate
When you return home, you may have a nice surprise: if we have received a commission on any of the travel components you will receive a credit for future travel in the amount of the commissions we receive. While it would be nice to keep it we feel that you’ve already paid for our service. Of course, if we receive no commissions from your travel arrangement suppliers there is no rebate. Occasionally the rebate will be greater than the consultation and proposal fee. In either case we will report to you if there is a rebate and how much it is.
How Our Pricing Rebate Works
For example, you pay us £1,000 for our services and your travel arrangements
for a week in Italy. When you return we inform you that we received £60
in commissions from the suppliers you selected. This £60 is your rebate,
issued in the form of a credit. You can use the credit to pay for travel services
with us at any time in the following 24 months.
